As a mew mew

Lettuce possesses a unique trait among the Mew Mews - the ability to breathe underwater. Her DNA is infused with that of the finless porpoise, a relative of the dolphin, allowing her legs to transform into a porpoise's tail while submerged in water (with the aid of Mew Aqua). This transformation significantly enhances her swimming prowess.

Furthermore, Lettuce can psychokinetically manipulate water to her will, with the intensity of this power seemingly linked to her emotions.

As mew new

Lettuce possesses a unique trait among the Mew Mews - the ability to breathe underwater. Her DNA is infused with that of the finless porpoise, a relative of the dolphin, allowing her legs to transform into a porpoise's tail while submerged in water, vastly improving her swimming abilities.

In addition, Lettuce can control water through both her mind and gestures. This ability appears to be linked to her emotions, and she can intensify her power accordingly. She can create bubbles to breathe underwater, and has the ability to see past events as well as sense the presence of others in the water.

Transformation

Mew Mew

To initiate her transformation into Mew Lettuce, she begins by kissing her Mew pendant and declaring her metamorphosis. As her pendant begins to glow, her DNA begins to morph, triggering the transformation sequence. Lettuce then places her hands on the Mew Mark located on her chest and spins into a flurry of bubbles, causing her Mew uniform to materialize. She completes her transformation with a final spin, sprouting her antennae from her head before landing gracefully on the ground, clapping, and striking a pose.

Lettuce's DNA is fused with that of the finless porpoise, allowing her legs to transform into a porpoise's tail while underwater, significantly improving her swimming abilities (provided she has access to Mew Aqua). Despite initially being afraid to use her powers, she gains confidence with the encouragement of Ichigo Momomiya and Minto Aizawa. Lettuce is the third girl to join the Mew Mews.

Plot

Retasu, also known as Mew Lettuce, is a character in the anime and manga series Tokyo Mew Mew. In the anime, she has a younger brother named Uri, and her parents always encouraged her to be herself and make real friends. Before meeting Ichigo, Retasu had some school friends known as "The Three Beckies" in the English dub.

In the manga, Retasu first appears in Chapter 1 of the first book at an endangered animal exhibit. She is being bullied by a trio of girls, but Bu-Ling Huang comes to her rescue. Later, an earthquake strikes, and Retasu, Ichigo, and Bu-Ling become trapped in a room. A ray of light hits Retasu, infusing her DNA with that of a finless porpoise, giving her the ability to transform into Mew Lettuce.

In the manga, Retasu and the three bullies are later seen at Café Mew Mew, where they talk about a ghost girl haunting a school's pool. Ichigo introduces herself to Retasu, who reveals that she only hangs out with the girls in hopes of making friends. Minto and Ichigo later discover that Mew Lettuce is the ghost, and Retasu accidentally attacks them out of fear. She then starts working at Café Mew Mew with the others.

In the anime, Retasu first meets Ichigo while running late for school, carrying four bags. The three bullies appear and tell Retasu to hurry up, and she apologizes to everyone. Later, during a time of crisis, Mew Aqua drops appear twice to aid Mew Lettuce's transformation into a porpoise. The first time, she saves Iruka and a boy from drowning, and the second time, she saves the life of Ryou Shirogane, whom she has a crush on.
