Tokyo Mew Mew character Zakuro Fujiwara 

Appearance 

Zakuro is a professional model and the tallest member of the Mew Mews. In her civilian form, she has dark purple hair and indigo blue eyes and is often seen wearing a silver cross necklace and a necklace with her name on it. Her Mew uniform includes a short red-violet crop-top with light pink lace lining, red-violet flared shorts, and matching thigh-high boots. She also wears red-violet armbands, a choker, and a garter belt with a pair of matching wristbands. In her transformed state, she gains large grey-brown lupine ears and a tail, and her Mew Pendant is attached to her choker. Her mew mark consists of two wolf tails around her navel. Her outfit has been upgraded with a purple ribbon and a purple heart gem in the middle, and her fingerless gloves have a white band with a small purple heart gem. Her hair is now ankle-length and tied up in a high ponytail. When working at the Cafe Mew Mew, she wears a purple waitress uniform like the other Mew Mews.

 

Plot

Zakuro Fujiwara's childhood is briefly mentioned in the manga and further explored in the anime. She attended a prestigious school and received a full education. In one episode of the anime, it is revealed that she used to live in America and left home two years before the series started.

In Tokyo Mew Mew, Zakuro's past trauma is hinted at through a flashback where someone close to her dies. She had to learn to take care of herself as her parents were busy, which may have contributed to her unsociable personality.

Zakuro is introduced as the fifth Mew Mew and initially operates as a lone vigilante, having transformed without coming into contact with the other members of Café Mew Mew. When the other Mew Mews finally meet her, Zakuro declines their invitation to join the team. However, after being saved by Mew Ichigo during one of Quiche's attacks, she begins to see the others as friends and joins the group. Like the other Mew Mews, she makes her first appearance at the endangered animal exhibit without being named.

Personality 

Zakuro shows self-assurance, independence, and maturity throughout the Tokyo Mew Mew series. She frequently takes on the role of the group's older sister, delivering wise counsel and swooping in to save her younger colleagues just in time. Although she preferred to work alone at first and refused to join the other Mew Mews, Zakuro is also extremely clever, though she sometimes conceals her knowledge. She regularly confides in Ryou about group issues.

Despite being a Mew Mews member, everyone of her comrades has a different opinion on Zakuro. Ichigo regards her as the group's older sister, who shines at gatherings and maintains cool under pressure. Minto idolises Zakuro and regards her as a role model. Meanwhile, Bu-Ling and Retasu regard Zakuro as an ordinary individual who does not stick out.

Abilities 

Zakuro is a multi-talented citizen who excels in a variety of professions such as dance, singing, and modelling. Her ballet training has improved her agility, reflexes, and flexibility, which she applies to her hand-to-hand combat skills. Zakuro is also clever, bilingual, and has swimming abilities. She is very skilled in whip manipulation.

Zakuro, like a Mew Mew, has a particular relationship with dogs, similar to how Ichigo can converse with cats. It is indicated in episode 21 that she has the power to talk with dogs, and it is subsequently shown in the series that she utilised this talent to persuade Minto's dog, Mickey, to assist her convince Minto to rejoin the team.

Transformation

Mew new

When Zakuro transforms, she initiates the process by kissing her Mew Pendant and shouting out her name. As the transformation begins, she cradles the pendant in her hands, watching as her DNA begins to morph. She then raises her hands, conjuring a large sphere of flames that envelops her. Twirling herself upward into the fire, her Mew uniform materializes onto her body along with her animal appendages. Zakuro remains still in the air, her body gracefully arched and her arms lifted, until the fire explodes into a rose-shaped flame. The fiery rose dissipates as Zakuro leaps forward with a fierce glare, concluding the transformation sequence with a somersault into the night sky. Finally, she descends to the ground with a backdrop of crescent moon and purple rosebushes, striking a final pose. 

Weapons And Attacks

Mew Zakuro's weapon is a whip, originally shaped like a cross in the Japanese version, but altered in the dub to avoid religious references. In the anime, it was named ZaCross Whip in episode 26. Her signature attack is called Ribbon ZaCross Pure, which has been mistranslated as "Ribbon Zakuro Spear" in fansubs.

To execute Ribbon ZaCross Pure, Mew Zakuro wields her whip, leaving a trail of purple energy in its wake. She raises the whip, activating the golden center piece, and energy rings surround her as she prepares to attack. She then slashes the air with her whip, unleashing a long whip-shaped ray of purple energy towards her enemy.

Mew Zakuro's strength is on par with Ichigo's, as she is capable of defeating Chimera Animas on her own. During her first transformation, the mere presence of her power was enough to obliterate a Chimera Anima.

In episode 8 of the new version, Zakuro demonstrates her physical strength and dexterity by using her whip as a fishing rod to easily catch predasite fish from the ocean
